Terms and Conditions

Last updated: October 21, 2026

These Terms explain the rules for using themathindex.com, a free math lesson and reference site run by The Math Index, a registered business name (DBA) of Pyle Industries LLC (“we” or “us”). By using the site, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Who can use the site

The site is for people 13 and older. If you are under 18, please use it with your parent’s or guardian’s permission. Parents and teachers are welcome to use the site with younger students, and our pages about elementary math are written for them.

Using our lessons for learning

Our lessons, examples and practice problems are here to help you learn. We check our math carefully, but mistakes can happen, and your teacher or course may use different methods or notation. When they differ, follow your teacher’s instructions.

Please use the site in line with your school’s academic honesty rules. If you find an error, email info@themathindex.com so we can fix it.

Our content and how you may use it

The lessons, explanations, examples, graphs and other content on The Math Index are owned by Pyle Industries LLC, doing business as The Math Index, and are protected by copyright.

You may:

  • Read and print pages for your own study.
  • Use pages with your students or tutoring clients, such as showing them in class or handing out printed copies, as long as you don’t charge for them and keep our name on them.
  • Link to any page on the site.

You may not:

  • Copy our content to another website, app or product.
  • Sell our content or include it in anything you sell.
  • Remove our name or copyright notices.
  • Copy the site in bulk with automated tools, such as scrapers.

For any other use, email us to ask permission.

Affiliate links and advertising

The Math Index is free because some pages earn money. Our calculator and book guides include affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission when you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

We only recommend products we think are useful for the course level, and we never place affiliate links inside worked solutions or practice problems. Prices, availability and product details are set by the seller and can change. Any purchase is between you and the seller.

We may show ads in the future. If we do, they will be kept out of worked solutions and practice problems.

Links to other websites

We link to other sites we think are helpful. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, products or privacy practices.

Rules for using the site

Please don’t:

  • Try to hack, disrupt or overload the site.
  • Use the contact form to send spam or harmful content.
  • Pretend to be someone else when contacting us.
  • Use the site in any way that breaks the law.

We may block access for anyone who breaks these rules.

Future products

If we offer products for sale, such as worksheet packs, extra terms for those purchases, like pricing and refunds, will be shown before you buy.

Disclaimer

The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises or warranties of any kind. This includes any promise that the content is complete, accurate or error-free, that the site will always be available, or that it is free of viruses or other harmful components.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages that come from using, or not being able to use, the site. Our total liability for any claim related to the site is limited to $100. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top. If you keep using the site after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms.

General

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don’t enforce a part right away, we haven’t given up the right to enforce it later.
